2nd ECGFF Workshop under Croatian Chairmanship


The Ministry of Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia together with the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) organized the workshop on “Remotely Piloted Aircraft System in Maritime Surveillance” on 15 and 16 February 2022. The workshop was organized in Lisbon, Portugal. However, due to the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, part of the attendees participated in the workshop via videoconferencing. This is the second of three workshops to be organized as part of the Croatian chairmanship of the European Coast Guard Functions Forum (ECGFF).
At the beginning of the workshop, participants were addressed by:
- the Chairman of the ECGFF, Rear Admiral (LH) Damir Dojkić, Chief of Staff – Deputy Commander of the Croatian Navy
- Ms. Maja Markovčić Kostelac, Executive Director of the EMSA, and
- Mr. Siniša Orlić, Head of the Directorate for Navigation Safety, Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia.
The experts from the European agencies EFCA, EMSA, FRONTEX, European Union Aviation Safety Agency, European Space Agency, Estonia, France, Spain, and Industry representatives gave presentations on the following topics:
- Member States best practices and lessons learned - by Marge Kohtla (Estonia), Hervé Metayer (France), and Carlos López (Spain)
- EU Coast Guard Functions agencies experience with Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Operations - by Helena Ramón Jarraud (EMSA), Rafael Duarte (EFCA), and Iasmin Burlacu (Frontex)
- Other Institution experience with RPAS - by Maria Algar Ruiz (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) and Rita Rinaldo (European Space Agency)
- Remotely Piloted Aircraft System industry point of view - by Christian Broecker (Airbus DS Airborne Solutions GmbH), Alexander Hatlestad (Nordic Unmanned AS), Stefan Gamse (Schiebel Elektronische Geraete GmbH), and Nadia Maaref (Collecte Localisation Satellites).
